I have a 1978 F-150 custom 4x4 and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find heavy duty 4x4 bumper (ones like the ARBs). Any help is appreciated, Thanks.
Warn has one that might suite you, and you can also go to broncograveyard.com and look for their bumpers, they have some decent ones also.
There is always the option of going the custom route. I've seen a couple guys on here with great custom bumpers for very cheap, I have a big pipe bumper with a grille gard, not set up for a winch, but I promise you it is strong.
if your going to have one made,i suggest you have a good look at lots of hand built bumpers first.there are a lot of really nice, custom bumpers out there, and a lot of horrible looking tacked together peices of iron. fit and finish goes a long way in my opinion. a bumper should flow well into the trucks body lines, not just hang off the end of the frame.im not really a fan of the big pipe look,it just isnt my personal favorite.other guys like it though.(hope i dont offend anyone, its not my intention guys). i dont think you need all the extra weight unless you have a monster sized winch.

Fordtruckman78 I was looking for the same Idea on a bumper as you are and decised on the cutom route and had a fabrication shop in town make me one with a couple pics of ones online I liked and made a few requests on body lines and my marker lights. I have a t-max 9000lbs winch on it and 2 Lightforce offroad lights. The finish product is in my gallery.
When I said, there is always the custom route, 460 Crew, you were exactally who I was thinking of, but didn't have your name to tell the guy.
Very nice bumper!
Thanks for the compliment, thats a nice bronco you have there. How do you like that aussie locker, and how are those IROKS? I have been debating a set of Iroks(bias) or ground hawgs in the 40-44 range, for my 77 crewcab build.
Thanks for the compliment also, but I decided to wait to put the locker in, for a month or 2 when I do the gear swap, no use in putting in the locker, taking it out and putting it back in.
Personally I love my Irocs, the lugs on both sides are directional for moving forward, and have some great scoops on them also. It doesn't take much to clean them off in even some of the nastyest mud.
