Just put a 460 in my son's 78 f150 4x4. Engine may be too heavy for 1/2 ton springs. IF I get springs for f250 will they fit and will they be stiffer. Also where is the cheapest place to buy a 4" lift kit for this truck.
[font color=red size=2]Not too long ago there was a discussion on this board about putting F250 springs in a F150. It was much stiffer and higher. Because the springs were taller the caster/camber was incorrect and the Ibeams had to be bent to allow for the lift of the taller springs.
I would suggest sticking with F150 springs. That's what I did and it raised it back up to the factory ride height, your springs have settled/weakened over the past 25-30 years. Plus you still keep a decent ride quality, and it won't mess with the alignment like F250 springs would.
John also had a good point about the weight, a 460 can't be much heavier than the 390 in mine...

Buy some new springs from www.eatonsprings.com and a set of gas shocks. Let the kid get aquatinted with the power of that 460 before you raise the thing 4 inches.
