A few weeks ago my f350 dually od started blinking. Pulled the codes, and it said slip. So I started driving the 250 PSD and havent gotten around to fixing the Big Dog yet. Is the lockup actually in the Torque converter? Is this all that I need to replace, or should I drain it and add some Lucas stop slip and start over to see what happens? I know I have seeen this posted on here before, and I appreciate all the help, but keep with the redundent guy here......Thanks again.
You said you pulled codes, what were the codes? A flashing OD light may be something as simple as needing a new VSS. If your OD light started flashing due to a transmission fault from overheating, you're probably due for a new transmission. Any kind of additive would only be a short term patch and will not address the underlying problem.
the code said tranny slip. When it s in lockup, sometimes you can get on it a bit and watch the rpms slide up a 100 or 200 without the get up and go. Know what I mean? I am not very good at explaining this, but thats the best I can give. It only slips while in Lockup. What do you pros make of it?
I can't help you with the pro stuff, just another shadetree here, but it does sound as if your T/C is going. Problem is that normally when the T/C has enough wear to develop noticable slippage, the shift clutches will probably follow shortly. I don't think I would spend the time or money to simply change out the converter and not touch anything else while it was out. Better look deeper.
BTW, do you have the actual OBD code - Pxxxx number?
