Hi all, great site, but almost to much info here! I did a search but came-up empty, so please Help!
I have a 2000 150 7700 4x4 scab and needo install a brake controler. I hear that with the proper "pig tail" all you have to do is plug it in and go. Is this correct? truck has the tow group on it w/ 7pin round plug. so can/were would the controler plug-into?
Thanks for the help, Kelly
look under the dash by your right knee. there is a 5 or 6 prong plug that goes to the controller. FORD actually sells a harness about a foot long that plugs into the truck harness and then solders to the controller wires for easy removal of the unit. i forget exactly, but harness has a 12 volt wire, brake wire, brake switch wire, and ground.
On my '01 F150 4X4, I bought the Prodigee controller and ordered the cable for a plug and play fit. Made a cable for the second truck, my '96 F150 4X4 by using the factory pigtail. All works great.
Thanks Steve & AzPete !!
What do you guys think about the Draw tite 5500 Acc.II ? I'll be in city traffic mostly and pulling a 7x14 duel axe. full shuld weigh in around 7500lb. heared there might be a better controller out there?
I have used my 8X18 foot flatbed car trailer hauling my 66 Mustang or a friends 69 Mustang and I really love the Prodigee. Southern Cal. traffic was no fear at any speed when we picked up the 69. It came highly recommended by several that tow a lot. Easy hook up too. What I really like in the mounting is that it will mount on an angle so it is not so much in the way under the dash. Adjustments are a snap even while driving so it is easy to go from empty to full settings if you forget before you get under way. Bought it from a recommended site on here also but have lost the name (old age). Paid $99 I believe. Also works good in reverse.
