Would these (Ebay Item # 7942558369) body mounts work on my 76 supercab thats going on my 78 frame?? Keep in mind this is a strickly off road truck....Im just wondering cause they are pretty cheap..I found a better set for about 85 bucks after shipping...im probably gonna buy these(EBay # 8038504356) im just trying to save a few bucks wherever i can...
ok, scratch that first post since i didnt get a reply.....heres another body mount question....im working on my 78 F-250 4x4, putting a 76 supercab body on it...ive heard of people leaving out the rubber body mounts and just welding in some thick steel in their place...is this do-able?? this truck is a strickly off road vehicle that will not be driven on the street....
if you have thick metal and a good welder I don't see why you couldn't. is it a mud truck? if so i would but if it starts flexing alot it might crack, but if its just a non street truck I'd try it.
yeah its totally an offroad vehicle, im not even going to tag or insure it(unless OHV Park rules require it)...ive heard about people doing it, but ive also heard that 6 inch lift blocks on the front axle is ok (we all know that is BS) this will be a mud truck mainly, but im also looking at getting into some crawling...i guess i will go ahead with it, and keep an eye on things as i go...
Do you just plan to weld in some 1 or 2 inch blocks above the frame, or you want more? IF you want more then I wouldn't suggest that.
Just to say, grind down the surface till it is completly clean and flat, then get some deep penitrating welds.
yeah im probably gonna keep it close to stock....i MIGHT go an inch higher, but i dont want to fuss with moving everything else to make up for it....i will leave the lifting to the suspension.. i actually seen some 1 and 2 inch solid stock at the scrap yard today i might bo back for...i finally got some 4" square tubeing to replace all my rotted crossmembers with...i might even run a "backbone" of square tubeing down the middle just for kicks and a little added wieght...I also got some 6" pipe to fab some bumbers out of....
