looking at putting a 4" turbo back kit on and looking at the dpp kit and the magnaflow kit both about the same price has anyone use the magnaflow i know that dpp is on this sight just tring to see what the biggest difference is between the two?
second question is i have read in the past that a 4" down pipe there are clearance issues is this true? if so why put a 4" exhaust and not a 3.5"?
I have a 4"MBRP turbo back system and I am very happy with it sounds good. For the down pipe my truck is a 04 and the 3.5 is the largest I can go the 4" just not enouph room but the 06 I think has the room Just call DPP they will answer all you ? did for me.
The 4.0 down pipes can be a bear on install with the firewall clearane and such, plus the VRT turbo doesn't get any lower EGT's or HP by going to a 4.0 pipe anyway. The MBRP we sell at DPPI has the spiral louver muffler that helps with exhaust evacuation as it reswirls the exhaust the same way the turbo does and beacuse of that is slightly better than the Magnaflow with a perforated core muffler. The MBRP has the 3.5 inch down pipe and then expands to 4.0 for the best sound etc. The MBRP also allows you to bolt your cat in place totally stock so the dealers don't get upset with you too! We do have a cat test pipe of you off road or race your truck too as an option. Call us if you want we'll be glad to help you with any questions etc.
How hard was the install of the MBRP? I would like to, if possible, keep from hack-sawing out the old exaust, just in case. But that may not even be an option. I guess the MBRP uses the factory hangers?
I installed the MBRP 4" cat-back by myself in an afternoon. Didn't have to cut anything to get it out. I jacked up the back of the truck quite a bit to snake the pipe out of there. MBRP does use the factory hangers with the exception of one between the cat and muffler.
When I get closer to 100K I'll replace the downpipe as well.
Why Kepler4 are you going to wait and replace the downpipe? Did you not replace that when you installed the MBRP? I know the stock muffler is pretty blocked, but I thought the downpipe needed to be done also?
When I got my MBRP it took the dealer an hour and twenty minutes to get the old one out and the MBRP installed. They would have done it quicker if I would have let them cut the stock pipe.
One thing I was amazed at was how HEAVY the stock exhaust is. I'll bet it's 125lbs...The muffer section is the heavy part.
I'm a little concerned about possible warranty issues and I live in Kalifornia where the smog police run rampant. I'm probably being paranoid and need to work through my 'issues' prior to the warranty expiration.
My truck's at 15K now and it's not had any issues whatsoever, just pulls like a train. Maybe I'll go for it a 20K, I am a power junkie!
