Had a random question. Was the C6 used in passenger cars or was/is it solely a truck tranny? Very curious. If it was in cars, which models/years had these if you know off the top of your head.
I was working on a C6 out of a 76 Country Squire Wagon the other day..... swapping linkage to put it into my dad's 77 F150 4x4. I would think that most cars with 400's or 351Ms would have C6 automatics... cause those are big V8s and what else would MoFoCo put behind em?
The C6 transmission was most defenatly used in both car& truck. Although some of the trannys in trucks had an extra disk in the clutch packs to handle the tourque. To find out get the number off the tag that is on the tranny in question and you should be able to identify it.
There were a number of internal diffences in the C-6s. If you have a truck one don't let the rebuild shop swap it out. Rebuild the one you have. You might get one out of a "PINTO". Been there done that one.
