piston ring help please!!!!

i have just rebuilt a y-block 292 there was only 4000's wear in the cylinders so i just honned the cylinders and put knew rings in i checked the gap on the rings at top middle and bottom and got them all lined up and slid them in the ring compressor but it is burning a little bit of oil i have only drove the truck a couple of times so during the break in prosses will they eventually seal?? cause i have put a lot of time and effort into it and i dont wantn to tare it all apart agin

If you aligned the ring gaps from top to bottom, that is causing the slight oil burning. The ring end gaps are supposed to be spaced around the circumference of the piston. They will move some and reduce the oil burning as they seat.

by any chance did you use moly or chrome rings?
