hi!
i have a 65 f100 that i have added disc
brakes from 78 f150 with a bolt pattern of
5x51/2! my question is does any one make
a conversion kit to get a smaller bolt pattern
for better wheel selection?
thanks, terry !!!!!!!!
Ford made the 5 on 5.5 for a reason, to keep chevrolet wheels off of fords....
Kidding beside, the only method is to have the hubs and rotors redrilled to the smaller pattern. Ford used the same pattern as chrysler 5x4.5 on the 80 to 83 ford F100s but that hub probally will not interchange with the eariler spindles.
There are hundreds of wheels out there based on the 5 on 5.5 as ford used this on cars and truck from the thirties till the mid ninties.
For my Pro Street trucks rear axle i swithced to 5 on 5 so i could use aftermarket disc brakes on the rear. I planned on redrilling the front hubs to match.
From 1980-83, Ford made the F100, a light duty truck. It came with a 4 1/2" bolt pattern. I have not made the swap to disk brakes yet but am going to try to install rotors from a 80-83. According to www.napaonline.com and www.autozone.com the 73-79 F100/F150's use the same bearings and seals as the light duty 80-83 F100's. I am hoping it is a direct swap. My concern is if it is spaced correctly to use the 73-79 caliper. I will post here when I finally get some work done on my 66.
