Boy Do I Love a Bargain

Let's do some math:

12 qts PZ 5w-30 on sale for $1.89/qt. = 22.68
2 Purolator oil filters on sale for $1.99/ea. = 3.98
Total out of pocket with tax = $28.86

OK. Now for the good part.

Rebate on oil = $7.20
Rebate on filters = $2
Total rebate (minus $0.39 stamp) = $8.81

Total out of pocket minus rebate = $20.05

But wait, it gets better.

Special PZ rebate on purchase of oil and filters = $10
Total rebate (minus $0.39 stamp) = $9.61

Total out of pocket minus both rebates = $10.44

So, for <$11 (including tax, oil recycling fee and stamps to mail in the rebates forms), I bought 12 qts. of PZ 5w-30 SM oil and 2 Purolator filters for my 7.3L PSD (normally $8.99 each).

I love capitalism.

And neither one of you posted the store, or where to get the rebate.... although the 0.49 Cheveron sounds like Schucks/Checker/Kragen, and that's a deal that available probably once a month.

PepBoys.

BTW - We have 2 PepBoys within a couple of miles of each other. I pick up the specials at each store. Rebate is limit 1 per household, so I send in 1 in my wife's name using our home address and 1 in my name using the office. Works like a charm.

PS - BTW - I always pick up 7.3L PSD filters when I can get them for $1-$2 each. When I get a dozen, I put the whole lot on ebay. Sold the last batch for $50+ And the best part? The guy who bought them was a mechanic at, say it with me now, PepBoys!

You guys are crazy. I still like my AcmeAce brand 30 WT. Non detergent oil, SB rated. $6.99 a quart at Machmed's "Quik Trip'n'Sip" convenience store. Sure, I pay a little more that you guys, but your Chevron Supreme SM rated oils, are no match for the crystal clear AcmeAce oil. Sorry, you lose, I win, my good deal is not a sin! Ed

Wellll!!, I hang out at the used oil collection site. Keep my eye open for 2% milk jugs with fairly clean looking oil, take home, run through the coffee pot with double coffee filters! Figure the pot heats up oil enough to loosen dirt and grit, trapping all in filters. Than mix in bottle of snake restorer, completed by a shiny uncrushed orange duct taped filter! (had at the rear of speedy blow by oil changers) PS. duct tape fixes all!
On a rare find, the oil is in a skim milk jug!

Another upnote, that first pot of coffee is GREAT! Ever in Pa, stop in for a cup!
