ac clutch

why does my a/c clutch kick on even when I'm not running a/c?

Are you running your defrost?? The a/c will run on ever setting except the vent if I remember right. The a/c dries the air to defrost.

it runs on every one including the vent.

its probably low on refrigerant. does its cycle on and off alot when its on?

it will run when heat is on to remove moisture from the air.
if it cycles quickly then you are either normal for low temps in the winter,low refrigerant charge(must locate,repair and recharge),or the high pressure switch is bad or out of adjustment. these older ones are adjustable.
