MORE on TRANSFER CASE
Alright i jacked up the truck and got it on some stands. first if you turn the wheels by the wheel itself then the one on the opposite side goes the opposite way. from front to back they go the same way but from side to side they go opposite. I put it in 4 wheel drive and sometimes the front driveshaft wont turn but the shifter insided doesnt always seem to stick in 4 high but it does in 4 low. when i put it in first gear and turnt the wheels the same thing happens and sometimes the wheel opposite it wont even turn. when i turn the wheels by the driveshafts they all turn the same way but not always at the same time. the hubs are locked but they dont seem to turn together. that was all with the rear. when i turn the front wheels which are locked they dont always turn together and sometimes the front driveshaft wont turn if it is in 4 wheel drive. it seems like the hubs are not locking right. I dont know what type of axles or tc i have and i dont know how to tell. But it seems when i tried to turn the wheel 10 times to count the rotation of the driveshaft the driveshaft would not turn. although when i turn the drive shaft the wheel started to turn but then it stopped event though the driveshaf did turn. the rear wheel turned one whole time when the driveshaft turned a little more than 2 and almost 3. the front wheel took about 5 turns but didnt seem to turn sometimes. if this helps any. How can i find out what type of tc and axles i have. thankyou all for helping me and putting up with this stuff.

well it is a 1978 f150 custom deluxe. i have found out that all wheels do in fact go in the right direction when in gear and being driven but the problem is that it can not do it in the air. The front driverside wheel seems to turn slower than all the others and sometimes not turn at all. if this helps.

Joe, I'm thinking more and more that your front hubs are just plain tired. If it were me, I would start with that. Your 78 150 shold have a 9 incher in back, a 205 T-case, and a high pinion D44 in front. Your front axle is sometimes refered to as a 'reverse cut' because of the way the gears are made to allow for the higher pinion location, it still turns the same as a low pinion D44. I had worn out hubs in my 71, drove me nuts till I realized the problem. DF
