Trans Adaptor

Can Anyone Tell Me What A Trans Adaptor Is Used For. Is This Something Ford Used On All The Transmissions.

An adapter plate is used so different transmissions will bolt up to a specific engine and vise versa.

I'm not aware of Ford using an adapter on any transmission. They did used to like those thin metal backing plates betwen the motor and tranny on the old gassers, but I don't think any of the diesels have them. I know mine doesn't.

Not really sure what they were for to begin with.
