Let's talk injectors again

I'm turning to Bean for injectors. What would ya'all recommend for replacements. Stock rebuild or something more? I'm not looking for tire smoking weekend romps...just everyday towing power (10,000#s) and some MPG wouldn';t hurt.

She's a late '99 F-350 4x4 with Hypertech III power programer ( hey, that's what I got ), 4" turbo back, and the kwiki filter. Gonna add the WW as well. Let me know your thoughts!!

Nut, I'm gonna, unusually, disagree with you on this one. For only a light increase in power for towing, I'd go with the Stage I injectors. Stage I's are half the price of a Stage II. The Stage I's will still support 350+hp at the rear wheels. Given the mods listed, my opinion is that Stage I's will be plenty of injector for the setup.

I would go with more than a stock rebuild though. You won't be gaining much with a stock rebuild.

One more note, you can't go wrong by calling Bean's to get their ideas too. They should shoot you straight about what's best for your application, and not try to sell you something more than you need just to make a buck.

Yep, after talking with Ryan...I'm gonna get rid of my Hypertech (never did think much of this programmer to start with) and get the Stage I single shots and a DP 6-pos chip. I'm getting giddy!

BTW...Ryan Bean is great to deal with and easy to talk to!!

Sorry JT, I should have been more specific. Your right about Bean's Stage I injectors and i agree 100% there. My problem is i was thinking about Diesel Innovations Stage II's which is their step up from the stock units. Then they
move up to their Mini'me's which are pretty hefty. A thought: have u ever upgraded in something to later regret not going with the bigger better unit
because u feel u want more?

i would go with the "tranny saver" injectors if you have a stock or near-stock automatic transmission. if you have a manual, go for the stage I's and plan on a upgraded clutch in the future.

Yes. That's why the Predator tuner is now gone and the DP chip is installed!!

However, running larger than stage I injectors from Beans might bring the need for an upgraded fuel pump too. I don't know for sure. Ryan could answer that.

Will stage I or II's keep mpg's in check as dunnit mentions or is it up to your right foot no matter what injectors you get?? Seems to me as you step up from stock rebuilds, mileage may take a hit.

Hey guys, thanks for all the response. It's kinda interesting....tranny savers all the way to stage II's....and all very reasonable logic. It's kinda like a sickness or a "harmless addiction". It's like remodling an ole house....where do you stop?

I was telling the wife, I really don't want to invest $40K plus in a nex 6.0L and sure as hell don't want a V10 yet, and my donkey is paid for! So...the doctor orders a new set of injectors, new chip (can't wait to get this in from other posts and reviews!), take her to the body shop and get some rock chips fixed, and I'll have a great ride (again) for several more miles (she's at 150K). As for the tranny....yep, bring her on! I've pulled the chit out of her since new...I feel like I got more than my money's worth out of the tranny....and, when it lays down, I'll be grinning ear to ear figuring out the best route for a bullet proof replacement. I guess the moral to the story is....I'm very happy with what I got, just makin her a little better!

Thanks again, this site rocks!
