Several months ago Ford had a recall for an electrical problem under the hood involving the cruise control. I took my truck to the dealer as instructed and they disabled the cruise control. It is now mid-Feb. and they still don't have the parts to correct the problem. Anyone else having this problem?

I received a notification in November informing me of the recall. Now I received a post card informing me to wait until February to obtain the recall service due to the unavailability of the cruise control part. I am not experiencing any problems with the cruise control and I have been watching it carefully for any signs of anything leaking near the affected part. So once I go in for service I will have them modify my cruise control.
Commuting 60 miles a day, I didn't want to lose the cruise, so never had mine disabled. I visited the dealer a couple of weeks ago for a shudder diagnosis - subject of another recent thread. They announced the cruise mod parts were in stock and made the fix immediately.
And incidentally they made a diagnosis that was _close_ in places.
I took my '98 in for the recall and had to wait several months as well. Finally in Feb they said the parts were finally in and they took care of it. I don't know if all dealers do the same, but here in Great Falls, MT they sent me the notice on a hot pink postcard. If you don't hear anything I'd call a couple times a month to be sure. The squeeky wheel gets the cruise control back.
I took my truck in for servicing and they performed the cruise control recall while in for service back in February. The parts are definitely out there.
I just got mine done last week. I called the dealer to verify they had parts - they said I could stop by any time and they would do it without an appointment. Sure enough, they got me in right away and the paperwork took longer than the fix (it's basically just an in-line fuse).
I just stopped by without calling. It was done 15 minutes later. The service manager did it himself. He spent more time doing the paperwork than the actual install.
After I saw the result, I wish i had done it myself. I could have made it look better/cleaner.
I also had to wait for the part. Though you could get the parts at any auto parts store, so I'm not sure what the dealerships had to wait so long. It's not like the fuse required a lot of engineering know-how.
I have both a 97 F150 and recently purchased a 00 Expy. I never had my cruise control disconnected on the 97. When I got my Expy, I decided to have this checked and found that it had already been done. I called the dealership to have the 97 done, they had me come in and had it installed with me still sitting in the truck in less than 5 minutes.
