I'm kind of new to the repairs of 7.3's. When our company had Chevy trucks, I got quite a bit of diesel repair practice, but now that we have all Fords in our fleet..... repairs are almost non existent!!! I do recall having to have a valve cover gasket replaced because it shorted out to the head. The same truck is now having the same problem again (2 years later). I just need to know if the valve covers can be removed WITHOUT damaging the electronic gaskets for inspection!? The truck is turning over like mad, sounds like it wants to fire but it wont. I already checked for water in the fuel and put in a new fuel filter and it's still doing the same thing. Any ideas???

My truck melted the conductor in the valve cover gasket, requireing replacement of th wiring harness, valve cover gasket, and repairing the outside plug. The cause was the glow plug wires were routed right next to the push rod and rubbed through the insulation on the wire and shorted to ground.
Now on to your no start. Have you tried jumping the glow plug relay?
