C6 stuck in drive

My tranny wont come out of drive. when it is in park it acts like it want to go forward. and is under constance load. same with nuttreul and reverse it goes forward. The guy I bought the truck from said it was the bands stuck togather. If this is the case does anyone know how it to free them up if possible?

Is the linkage hooked up? When you put it in park, does the truck stand still other than feeling the load of the engine against the tranny? If this is the case, your forward clutch is likely seized which means it needs an overhaul.

Yeah the linkage is hooked up the truck will go forward if I put it in gear. BUt in park it acts like it is still in gear. when I start it it lunges forward a little bit like it taking up the slop untill the tranny park stops it. So if the clutch is forze up does that mean I have to buy a complete over haul kit with the bands and everything?

The forward clutch has seized up.
The transmission will have to be torn down completely.

ya i have had this happend to me before someone has over heated the tran's it like weld's everthing together when u rebuild it make sure u have a real good trans cooler on it.
