I went out to the pick and pull this morning and picked up an over head console and the temp sensor from a 98 Explorer. i am putting this in my 92 F250. Does any one have a wiring diagram or know which wires go to what to install this. Also if the display has a digital compass, was this operated by the computer somehow ir is there a compass built into the console.
This sounds like an awesome mod. Please post pix/info when you're done! I've been throwing this idea around in my head for years but have never gotten to it...maybe this will motivate me.

I did find the wiring diagram on another site.
Here it is
Red/blue-dasboard dimmer switch
Blue/yellow and Blue/White- to temperature sensor
Black - ground
Black/Blue and Green/Orange Dome lights
grey/black- speed sensor(not required)
Grey/Yellow 12V+
I have to run back out to Pick-n-Pull tomorrow so I may pick up one or two more of the consoles. If I do I will post them in the for sale section as forum rules don't allow selling in the general forum.
A dremel is a must for trimming down the console. Make a cardboard cut out of the headliners form and trim the console to match. I didnt trim the middle and thus the gap at the rear.
Thanks for the pics. I am in the middle of installing it now. I had to run up and get some cut off wheels for the dremel. I will post my pics later tonight when I am done
The ones I found them onat the pick n pull here were from 1996 to 2000 model years. I am sure it went much newer that 2000 though. The sensor is mounted on the drivers side where the front bumper brack meets the radiator support. I went back out to the pick n pull this morning and grabbed a couple of more, as well as an electronic mirror out of a mercury sable so if any body wants one check the for sale section and I will have them listed later today

Thanks, lots of those in the junkyard these days, so should be easy enough to find. And yes, I imagine they were used through the end of 3rd gen production in 2005, as I seem to recall that my dad's 2005 Mountaineer has this.
