im confused, the pm you send me seems to not have shown up, there was one for boush proformance that was an ad for F-150 superchargers that i deleted, and one the has the date 12-31-1969 that i cant open. what is going on?
I checked my sent PMs and it shows I never sent it. I tried 3 more times and it still shows nothing. Oh well, try out trs, they have tons of ranger/BII info. Here's a 3.8 swap article:
EDIT, I see what's going on, they don't want me to show you info from another site. I'm going to email you, you email me back and I'll get you the info.
I am kind of intersted on more of a theoretical question on why people want more powerfull engine in their BII. I mean what are the pluses of power on ofroad? I have been driving 95hp UAZ(Russian army truck) for 2 years in wilderness. When you come to a steep slope, put it in low and that's it. Mud puddle, put it in 2nd and low and that's more then enough. Also, if you are riding on the high packed snow or sand, or ANY "gentle" surface, if you have a lot of torque, you give it a little gas, spin tires and no matter how good your truck is you are up to your "belly" in the snow. The orginal BII simply doesn't have enough power to spin 4 tires from the start unless you floor it. Helps a lot(experienced it and thanked a lot of times in NJ snowstorm) Offcourse it is cool to fly through the mud, but if you just want to do offroading, you don't need it. Also, The proof to that is the whole UK ofroading culture where they run relativly weak LandRovers with tires no more then 32 and still, the cars are legendary in their 4x4 perfomance.
So, comes out that the power is practicall only for coolness and speed. Coolness is personal, but i think speed in BII is just dangerous.
Any ideas on this? Not trying to offend anyone, just curious becouse with all 5.0L swaps kind of can't get the point of my mind.
Thanks,
Klim
P.S. I also think that my BII is the best offroad vehicle ever
i agree granted when i rebuilt my 2.9 i bored it out but in a offroader i believe its not about your engin its about your gears if your not happy with your b2,s performanse first off put a 5 speed in it and second a bigger engin in the mud isnt that great because if you go to a 302 or higher you have to get a running head start at a puddle or youll nose dive into it . not to mention climbing rocks ud be ok but coming down is a different story the true rock crawler can get down the rocks the same way it came up
mulik hit the nail on the head, it is for coolness. Speed is not problem in a bronco II...as long as your in a straight line. If i ever did speed with my bronco it would be in a very flat open space free of any turn of obsticles. And although not everyone shares the sam interest as me (obviously) i beleave doing somthing like this as project will be fun, and give me somthing constructive to do. I understand it just gearing that is important, which is why the 40hp and 79lbs torque suzuki samri can go off road with mods to the transmission. More power in the trial is better though, cuase some times you will bog down on a hill to the piont where you can stall if you misjudge what gaer you should be in. (after riding a quad for 4 years i know this)
Well, there are tons of options on BroncoII if you want to be contructive. Swap the axles, put in the locks, get the compresoor, get a good lift, get a body lift, get lightining. This can keep you busy for quite some time....
But to each his own...good luck on your project.
