Do mine in March, and wait and mail them on April 14th, or the day before the deadline. Almost always get money back, and am always honest, but always figured I had less chance of getting audited if mine were mailed in with the other 1/3 of the country's filers. Have always imagined some poor IRS clerk with a 5 foot high stack of returns thinking about going fishing, etc., when spring is rolling around and wondering how fast he was signing off on my return. I know I'm letting the government use my money short term, but I seem able to manage my $ very well (no debt), and the government doesn't, so I feel like I'm kinda helping them out.
