Others here know more about the med. & big truck engines & I'm sure they will chime in, but I believe it could have been the 292, or the HD302 or HD332. The last two are derivatives of the Lincoln Y and as such don't have a whole lot of interchangability with the Ford/Mercury Y-block.
If memory serves, & again I could be wrong, the truck 292 in '60 was more or less the same as the car 292, with the possible exception of heads & valves. The HD292 parts came along in 1961 & included a steel crank, the shorter C1TE big rods, & different pistons, among other things.
The 500 series never got the HD292 unless it was a dealer special but since yours is a 60 it is just a plain ole 292. They came on 61-64 F/C-600's only from the factory.
The 302/332 came on the 700/800 series only from 56-63. Some early F700's even got the 292 as the low ball engine with the 302 as the "upgrade" The F750/800 got the 332.
the hd 292 4v eng was used in the b600 i have a 1963 b600 school bus that has the hd 292 4v it pulls it along real good i also have a 66 b600 with a 391 4v and i think the 292 run's and pull's just as good or better it rev's alot higher to.
