I use Mobil 1 Delvac 5w40. It has been great. I have an oil analysis done with blackstone laboratories to make sure the oil is doing what it is supposed to be doing.

I use Rotella T 5W40 synthetic, and blackstone reports look great. No problems

I recently switched from Rotella 15W40 to the Rotella 5W40 Synthetic it starts easier and runs smoother on cold starts.

Same here to the letter. I made the switch at 30,000 miles on my 03. Acts like a different truck on a cold start. Mileage is also better on short trips, probably due to the smoother running when cold.

Ditto. Switched to Rotella syn.5w-40 at 30,000. My 03 starts very fast, cold or hot, and I have noticed it warms up faster, seems quieter, especially when it is around 32 degrees. It will idle low speed for a few minutes, then it will automatically bump up to about 1000 rpm until I touch the brake, then it idles back down again. Seems like it takes longer with the old dino oil. Just seat of the pants observation, I'm not switching back to do the comparo .

I have used Delvac and Mobil Truck/Suv. I recently switched to Rotella 5w-40 synth. because Walmart stopped stocking Truck/Suv for a while. They finally got some in but it was to late, I needed an oil change. I will probably stick with Rotella since it is easier to get here. I have not seen any differences in them. Both seemed to work great. I use Mobil for everything other vehicle.

I use the 15w40 diesel from Amsoil but I change it every 5k. I just can't get used to letting it go more than that. I really don't think it matters what brand you use as long as its changed per the owners manual.

I have a question, this is my first diesel and haven't had to do an oil change yet but has anyone used Pennzoil 15w40 it has the CI-4 rating?

Yes. There is a Penzoil 15w-40 CI-4 oil. I used it before changing to synthetic. I liked it fine, except for cold weather, it was really loud when starting the motor.

Was that because of the weight of the oil?
