97 expy 4x4 problem
Im not sure exactly what the problem is with my 4x4 system I have the 2H,A4WD,4H,4L switch on my 97 expy. It is a miracle if i am able to go from 2H straight to 4H. I can pretty much never get the system to go into 4x4. Occasionally when I can get it into 4H, I can almost never get it to come out of it. Ive noticed lately on the icy conditions where i live that if i use the A4WD, it engages 4x4 when the rear wheels slip just like its supposed to. I think my problem is my transfer case shift motor but i would like to know if there is something i can do to test it and make sure thats my problem before I go out and buy a new motor. Also, when it does shift into 4H, I hear a click like a relay under the dash pad by the drivers side window post. When I am unable to get it to shift into 4H, I don't hear that click. Is there a relay for this system that could have gone bad. Ive checked the manual and it doesnt have a listing for a 4x4 relay and im positive the switch isnt the problem because i have already replaced it b/c the light in it went out.
