Just got the flash done on my 05 4x4. I noticed that the primer now stays on until the idiot light goes out. The Truck now starts better on the first start but appears to be the same as before with subsequent starts, also noticed that the transmission gauge is now reading correct. Don’t know how that flash would have anything to do with the transmission. Fixed the idling problem, but fuel economy still isn’t the best. I am averaging about 16 mpg at 75 mph (I have 14000 mile on my truck). It gets better the slower you go, but who wants to drive a stud truck at 65 mph. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
The 05E15 "fix" was temporally related to a 2 mpg decrement in my F350, based only on my Lie-O-Meter and 1/2 tank of diesel so far. I'm hoping that this will spontaneously resolve - maybe it was a bad tank of diesel purchased from the same high-volume diesel seller that I always get it from. I doubt it, but I'm trying to stay optimistic. In hindsight, I should have never taken it in for the "fix."
most owners that i have had the opportunity to converse with around here...have had the resolve to never take a re-flash, as the fuel economy and resulting loss of power from the almighty updates.... HAVE not been worth the trip to the mis-fixit dept of the f.m.c. As the owner of 3 05`s, i can tell you striaght up, yes there is a problem (s)that the f.m.c. is attempting to address with these re-programs, but but... you can kiss 3-5 miles per gallon in the way of fuel economy good-buy??? when you get the latest flash. (by PERSONAL experience and dealer statements!!!!)
What dealers? Yes, it did take a while to get everything to "reset" itself, but I find that there is very little difference pre and post flash other than the engine produces a bit more "clatter". There was an initial loss of fuel economy and a turbo boost limit of 20 psi, but that resolved itself after approximately ten startup cycles. I am still getting 16 mpg city now that things have mapped themselves in. Of course, depending on your driving style your mileage may vary.
Does the recall zero the mpg setting? If so early on idling at a stoplight can change the readout. It can act almost like the GM instant readout on the first tank.
