Hi, First after my truck lost all electric power I discovered a wire in the alt. wiring harness had rubbed thru the insulation on the inner fenderwell . After I wrapped it up real nice I started up my truck and proceeded to melt down the fusible link and the alt.from the voltage regulator which had failed from the first wire shorting out. I tried to buy a new wiring harness from Ford but was told they were no longer availible. So ,I went to the junkyard and searched until I found one with enough there that I could work with. I still ended up using pieces of my old wiring harness .They tend to use wire cutters to remove the alt. wires at the junkyard so they have to be rebuilt but there are no shortage of parts trucks so you shouldn't have to much trouble. After replacing the alt., voltage regulator and the rebuilt wiring harness , things have worked OK. I would highly recommend wrapping the wiring harness a few extra times to help protect against the rubbing on the inner fenders. .
