how much lift?

How many inches of lift is required for these tire sizes on a 77 1/2-79 F-250 4x4?.......

35" --- 4" or 6"
33" --- 4" or 6"

I dont want to push the limits of trying to fit them without a lift. What is too much overkill and for what size of tire? I want to have plenty of space for wheel travel without rubbing in all extremes of suspension movement. Also what companies offer these kits for this model and what ones are the best? Thanks.

For 33's you don't need a lift. I have 33x12.5 and have never had any rubbing front or rear. So if your going to lift 4" should be plenty.

I've gone as big as 14x36.5x15's on my 79 bronco with a 4" lift. The 35's on there now look tiny.

how much lift?

Tymers is right. I have a 4" lift on my 78 with 33's and it is not nearly enough tire. I am considering 36 inch thornbirds when my money tree starts groing. There are a couple things to consider though. Are you going to be doing any hardcore 4 wheeling that involves using a lot of your suspension travel? If you are, filling in the wheel wells like I am going to do may not be a good idea. You might risk some suspension travel putting a tire into a fender or boxside. This is especially true with tires that have larger tread blocks. I used to four wheel my 78 pretty hard with th 4 inch lift and 33's and have launched it pretty high. I never lost a body part but did manage to put my dana 44 dif right into the oil pan. It was a big enough dent to lose about a quart and a half of capacity. I was pretty proud of that until I had to fix it. I'm not trying to steer you in any kind of direction, just trying to give you a little help from my experiences. I am not going to be beating on my truck like that any more, especially after I finish restoration. Just throwin in my 2 cents.

People who say it can't be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

how much lift?

i lifted my 78 F250 6in and i got a 38.5 in there with alot of room to spare.for a good time off road and not worry about tearing things up.but i droped it to a 4in now and have 35 12.5 16.5's BFG's and this is perfect.it dont look like the dodge ram trucks do with so much room under there you could mount another tire.hahaha. but it looks great without being over crowded.so go with the SKY JACKER 4in ford system and you will have to buy the shocks separate but tis kit is truly the best and they have a super steering stabilizer side by side dual shocks.not over under like the rancho.this will cost ya some bucks so get ready.the system has rear leaf springs not add a leaf and has front springs also.thats the only way to go.i like there nitro shocks.they are gas charged.and come with red boots.
