My 94 with new brakes a couple months ago is locking up in the rear.I caint even turn the wheels with it jacked up.What the heck.It has anti lock could it be to do with that? What does that exciter ring in the rear end do?Can I unhook something to check it out or disconect the rear anti lock?Man I got to go to work and this is my only vehical.Help
If you remove any piece of the ABS puzzle it will disable the entire system. You could just pull the ABS fuse....or relay.....and once you see the ABS warning light you will know its inoperative.
The tone ring in the rear is where the ABS gets the speed signal (speedo also) for the rear axle. The system is only a three chanel........the both rear wheels on one circut....and each one of the fronts on the other two.
As far as your rear brakes go.....check the self adjusters.....
I dont know it's really wierd. It only does it with the front wheels turned.Thats why I thought it was the rear end and put that friction modifier in.I jack it up and hold one wheel and it is smooth feeling in the rear end.The wheels arent locked up now for some reason.I took the drums off and it all looks fine. This is going to drive me crazy.I've worked on a lot of **** but this bronco seams to not want to reveal it's self to me.I wish whatever it was would just break and be done with it!
