I have a 1995 f150. and it is pouring power steering fluid from the location of the pitman arm. i have it all apart and can't put it back together because the folks at auto zone gave me the wrong part. i need to know what the new seals look like, i think that the old ones are blown out. if anybody has a diagram of what has to be done to fix this, part number for the new part and /or pictures of what is looks like, i would be extremely grateful. and just to let everyone know i have tried searching and came up empty. and if anybody knows a link to an online manual, that would be great too.
usually when i go in there i know what i am looking for. and thanks for the link. it will help. a guy on another site sent me a link showing me how to check the fluid level. i felt slightly insulted.
you need a pressure seal, a dust seal and a snap ring. the ford manual shows the for tool to push it back into housing. send me an email and i will send you a picture.

i just replaced the seals in my truck last night. it took me forever to get them out. i ended up removing the shaft. i pulled the plate on top and it slid right out and gave me access to the seals. it went back together easily.
The quickest way we found to pop it out was start the engine, and turn the wheel from full left to full right and back. The hydraulic pressure will push the seal right out. It is messy, though!
well thanks for the help. but the bottom line is that my truck is a piece of ****. everything is to rusted. the bolts won't move and i don't have enough room to really get to them. the bolt on the top was rusted and is now rounded. so i don't really know what to do.

Do you have access to a welder? You can tack a nut onto the top, and try again.
i have a welder but it is not a very good one (got it at walmart) the nut would most likely melt away. besides i still can't get any leverage to move to sucker. I will probably attempt to get it done sometime today, but will eventually get pissed off and quit, then try again, then quit, and so on and so forth.
