radio replacement

I have to replace my radio/tape deck in my 1992 f150.Can someone tell me

what years are interchangable and which one would be best.

You can probaly interchange 1987-1994 but if you go to walmart i found when i changed my 1987 to a new cd stereo i used the side brackets off the old stereo and was able to mount them on the new. walmart has a kit with face plate you can trim to fit to fill the small gap.
