302 Motor Mount

I need a little help in clarifying an issue concerning 302 motor mounts. I've had a TCI MSII front end installed on my 56 F100 and I've had some issues with motor mounts.

I contacted TCI and their tech staff told me to purchase 302 motor mounts for a 68-72 Torino. Here is the question. Are the right and left mounts the exact same? The reason I ask this question is when we received them from a couple of different sources they were the exact same. However, when you bolt them up on the engine it causes an adjustment to be made on the mounts that need to be welded onto the frame.

The individual doing the work is a fabrication shop in the middle of farmland; however, he has a very extensive backgound in vehicles. He builds and races short track stock cars. The man doing the work would like to see the frame welded mounts be staight across from each other versus one being offset farther back (which would be the case if I used the 302 mounts we have received).

Am I wrong to assume that the right motor mount would be different than the left? or are they truly the same for both sides. When looked up in autoparts stores they are 2 different numbers.

i noticed the same thing with my mustang motor mounts the one is offset of the other slightly i dont know the reason for that but it shouldnt matter other than pick and mount that will work and will be easily found for many years to come.

Are you asking about the rubber mounts being different or about the metal mounts . Also what year 302? I know it doesnt really matter however if you have a 5.0 block it possibly could. I have a 50 F-1 with independent suspension also with a 302 and dont really recall a problem like that. If you have seen the tubular motor adaptor mounts you may notice that the rubber mounts are the exact same. Are you mounting the motor in front of or behind the the suspension components? Hope we can help.

I am familiar with '70 Maverick 302 mounts which should be very similar; and they are unique left/right. Swapping them left/right shifts the engine about an inch and a half as I recall (don't ask how I know...)
