motor

i was thinking about switching my 460 out for a 390. i was wondering if it would bolt up to my tranny and will it be worth it. i think the tranny is a t 10

Allen, the engines you're asking about have differant bell patterns so you would need a new bellhousing. What are you hoping to gain here ? As much as I love FEs, most folks are not putting smaller engines in place of large ones. DF

on a quiet night your can hear a chevy (lol,you can watch a dodge) rusting away

its a 79 f150 4x4 i was really just thinking about switching it over. i was trying to find out if it would be worth it. is there place i can get an oil pan that drops down in the back for the 460

This usually includes having to change the oil pump and pick-up tube as well. I don't know why you would want to change out a 460 for a 390. Besides changing bellhousings, you would also have to change the frame perches.

PAW has a rear sump pan for the ford 4x4 with a 460 swap....the pan is made by Milodon, has a deep sump, and is $279.95 P/N: 30570...but you will need a pickup for a rear sump, as stated previously...also available at PAW...
