Tailgate Takeoffs
I see all these commercial trucks with lift gates and toppers with integrated tailgates. Anyone know what they do with the original tailgate? I live in Western Michigan and am looking for a tailgate for my 2000 F250. My wife forgot to drop the tailgate before pulling away from our gooseneck trailer. I've gone to several repair shops but they all say I'm better off looking for a used one with a matching paint code rather than buying a new one and having it painted or buying a non matching used one and having it painted. Any Ideas where to go other than Ebay. I've been checking that periodically already but haven't come across one yet in the right color.

check local junkyards or www.car-part.com. That's a junkyard network you can search locally or nationally.

id say find ya a v tailgate if thats what there called. other wise a week or so down the road the same thing could happen to your new shinny tailgate. for some reason i think an aftermarket gate will cost less then a replacement one.
