Ever since I bought my '73 F100 2wd longbed 10 years ago, the park brake cables have been inoperable. The front cable is shot, the rears were cut at the wheels and all the parts connecting the front and rear cables is gone. So now I want to make it work. I ordered cables and have gotten the adjuster bolt and equalizer, but need the return spring. According to my repair manual there should be a long spring (maybe a couple feet long) from the front cable to a cross member. Where can I buy one of these? I've checked the usual catalogs with no sucess. Does anyone know where they are available? I don't think it will work without one. Thanks.
I guess my 78 F250 is missing the adjuster bolt/equalizer. I just have the three cables, which the two rears look too long anyway just hanging there. Does someone have a picture that will help me find or make what Im needing??
according to what 73custom is saying I need an adjuster bolt, an equalizer as well as the return spring. Is that it?
If it is the same as my 78/79 There are the three cables which all meet in the center of the truck. The front cable has the adjuster crimped on to it. Then the equelizer joins the three cables, rears on either side front in the middle. I just got the equalizer and spring from the wreckers today for $2.25
