Lumbar Support Seat
Thanks
They once broke the lumbar support cable and I managed to fix it myself 'cause I didn't want to take it back. What happenned on mine was the connecting bracket we'll call it, at the rear of the seat was broken. This bracket was made of heavy guage steel wire and looked to have been hardened because it broke through one of the bends without deforming. Apparently the wire was only hardened at the bends however because I was able to bend another hook in it and refasten it to the flexible mesh that bulges to create the lumbar support.
On another of the fleet F150s though the cable had a ferrule that was pulled through the flexible mesh that forms the support and it was not able to be fixed in the field. It was assigned to another employee and he had his whole seat replaced to fix his.
Lot of words to say good luck with fixing yours!
My drivers side lumbar quit working. After some poking around I found the spring that holds the cable to the metal bracket on the back of the seat was broken. This spring is what creates tension on the cable which in turn causes the metal bracket to be forced outward creating the lumbar support. The hook on the end is what actually broke.
I checked at the ford dealership and they said that the spring and bracket come as an assembly which costs $85. I'm not going to spend $85 on a spring! Has anyone else come across this situation and how did you solve it. I was thinking of looping a piece of heavy guage wire half way up the spring and tieing the end, where the hook used to attach.
Thanks
Brad
