Baer brakes are also very expensive. I put ceramic pads on my truck, and I know there is a lot of opinions on them here. I like them so far. Stop good, wheels are clean, and they should last long (I use alot of brakes up plowing snow). Mine are Friction Master pads from Advance Auto. Time will tell.
The best value and performance is from the Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads. I am a living testominy to them, I have had 4 SD's and had less than great brake performance and life from them all. I was bitching to the dealer one day when our Superchips rep was in and he said here try these if you think they fixed your problem you have to sell them at DPPI for me. Well the Powerslots and Hawks fixed my problems totally. Zero fade, no shudder, shorter stopping distances etc etc. They are available in Cyro too if you're a severe brake user, doesn't sound like it from your post, but wanted you to know they were available that way too. Give us a call and we'll be glad to help you. By the way they are almost the same prices as stock parts!!
I had an Excursion and got a brake job on it. I put ceramic pads on it and within 8,000 miles they had destroyed and cracked my rotors. I do tow a 10,000lb. trailer. Apparently ceramic pads do stop well, but they retain their heat too much.
That was a very expensive trial with those things. I will NEVER EVER put ceramic pads on another vehicle.
Check out ART (appliedrotortechnology.com). I have them and love them, longest lasting and best performing pads and rotors that I have ever used. Right now I have around 20,000 miles on them and no complaints yet. They cost a bit more than ordinary rotors, but in my opinion, you get what you pay for.
