Hi guys, im new to the forum, im a big ford fan and im looking to purchase my first ford. Its a 95 extended cab with a 460/4x4/ and i believe its an Auto with 120,000 miles. The truck appears to be very well maintained and is in excellent condition. Should i be worried about the high miles on the 460? Also what kind of mpg is anyone getting out a 460. The guy was 6500 for it. Seeing the condition its in, i think its worth it. It is loaded by the way with the xlt package.
thanks, thats just wanted i wanted to hear. It is a F250, forgot to mention that. Its a nice lookin truck and the guy i may be buying it off of has taken excellent care of it. Hows the gas guzzlin with one of these 460/auto compared to 460/manual?
a buddy of mine has an 89 f150 302 5-0, and the odometer reads 365k. but the thing is, the odometer stopped working about 5 years ago. he estimated that it has roughly 435k on it now. Original motor. thats a good ol ford v8 for ya.
Well i just went and looked at the truck, and unfortunately i wont be buying this one. I'm still going to be looking. The truck was definetly used and i felt it wasn't worth 6 grand. Paint was scratched off and the bed was rusting, the whole frame and body was rusted underneath real bad. I wasn't worried to bad about that until i drove it. The 460 had actually 140,000 miles on it and definetly seemed warn out. There was a fifth-wheel attachment in the bed and the owner indicated that it has towed alot. When driving this truck, i expected the 460 to have alot more power. It also sounded like the lifters were taping. Not sure if it was the lifters, but it was something.
