Propane

Ok i was lookin on the Bullydog website, and i came across one of their propane injecton kits. It says it is grat for the engine and works great on any turbocharged engine, but would it work on a non turbo diesel?? Also what are some of the precautions needed when using it, can it damage the engine?

From what I've read, adding a little propane will improve the power output and fuel economy of any diesel engine. I think most of the systems available now are recommended for turbo diesels because they use hobbs switches (boost activated) to turn them on.

Thread moved to proper forum.

Adding propane on a natural aspirated motor will give you a small power gain.
But this is adding more fuel when you really need more air to burn the fuel.

Makes a big difference with a turbo motor.

I think the power shot is to expensive for the amount of gain you would get on a non turbo motor.

That's your opinion but not mine. I get from 73 to 78 RWHP out of my powershot 2000. Well worth the $650 price tag, and if you order from Tymar you can get it cheaper.

Cookie is right Powershot and for that matter most other propane systems use boost to control the flow of propane. There are some folks here that have home made systems but with out the ability to increase/decrease flow as needed it would be a less than effective system

Thumbs up Propane

I have a 1977 F350 and it runs on propane. It runs great, and clean I pull a 35ft 5th wheel with it for the last 15 years. I have a 460 engine and it will last me rest of my life. Jim

I do not believe you can run a diesel on pure propane there is no ignition source and the compression ratio is to high
