Welding perches in

I'm welding perches on a rear dana 70. I was wondering what the best way is to make sure my perches are at the right angle when i weld them on so my pinion is correct. I have the original axle w/perches so i can go off of that. Thanks

Set the pinion at the correct angle with a jack then just put the perches level using a topedo level.

I prefer to use an angle finder. You can get them for $20 for an Empire, or about $5 for a cheap one. Cut one perch off, then weld the new one on matching angles from the new one to the old one. Then do the other, again setting both at the same angle before welding.
Its also a very handy toos (sometimes required) for doing any driveline, lift, and axle modifications

I put an angle finder on the pinion to set it at the correct angle. Then use a topedo level on the perches. I should have made that clearer in my first post.
