Can I assume that I have a 1356 TC ? If so is the cam spring # 33 in the diagram http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2.../bw1356_p1.jpg

No, the spring actually sits under the motor, in the small diagram, its the little round coil spring. The big piece under the motor is the cam, the part under it is the spring, then there is a rod that slide through the center of both, and is all pressed together.

Is this something you will be repairing on your own?

Probably not. I don't mind swaping TC or shift motors but FI, carbs and other parts but there are many repairs i leave to the professionals.

Then you may be better off to see what it would cost for a rebuild or good used T/C. Where abouts you located?

Im in north central PA. Ill contact my local trans rebuilder, I was told he also does TC. Ill also see if I can return this TC, it was only in 45 days.
