Bypass Clutch Control Valve for AOD-E / 4R70W Transmissions






This precision replacement valve and orificed sleeve are manufactured by Sonnax utilizing superior construction and materials. These redesigned components help to prevent and eliminate torque converter clutch slip and shudder concerns in AOD-E and 4R70W transmissions. This valve is recommended for any AOD-E or 4R70W transmission that has higher mileage or has experienced torque converter clutch problems.

Give one thing a try before you go to a lot of trouble and expense. Go to FORD and get a bottle of their limited slip additive and squirt in down the dipstick hole. It was recommended by FORD as a solution to shudder in our Crown Vic Police cars. Fixed their shudder and mine too. Do not use any other brand, FORD only.

 

Hmmm, didn't know there was such a thing. My old man's E4OD is occaisionally shuddering. Will it work in that? We may have to try this.

 

The name and part number is:Ford Limited Slip Friction Modifier C8AZ-19B546-A. What works in one should work in the other. The Crown Vics ( & my '95 F150) have the 4R70W.

i have those parts in hand, to install tommorrow. Not to fix shudder so much as a two quart drain back of fluid into the pan, leaks out the dipstick to pan hole when parked. Add two extra quarts, slow warm up and off it goes. no problems with shifts, except at the cold start, and no error codes. I am looking for advice on other routes for the torque converter or valve body to drain back into pan at shutdown. This is a mail truck, 160,000 plus stop and go miles.
