Heads coming off
After 6 months of "checking", the dealer is replacing the head gaskets, bolts and egr cooler on my '05. They could never "reproduce" the over heating symptoms, but decided that had to be the problem with the high temps pulling heavy loads and coolant puking under the hood. Just as well they waited, at 19,500 miles, my oil test shows fuel in the oil, so an injector is now leaking. Still have too much lead, chromium and Aluminum in the oil, this time after just 4000 miles between changes. Makes me want to go get my "03 back from my son. Anyone else had this problem? Did the replacement's help?

There are 75 technical service bulletins on this engine. If you subscribe to Alldatadiy.com you can access the specific bulletins for your engine. I wouldnt be surprised if there is a bulletin on this one.

You might have then check the pistons real good . You could have a cracked piston ( one or two) That has been the case in my truck. I had two cracked causing the oil temp to get hot and put the motor in derate mode.
