awesome! thank you so much. I placed an order with genuine ford parts.com and they came to 14 bucks a side.

I'll go into ford over the weekend and ask them if there is an upgrade for the rear aswell.

You can save a few bucks by getting them here.

# 2C3Z-2C150-AA

I don't think shipping would be that bad on them.

Guzzle, don't wanna hi-jack this xclnt thread (super how-to on the pins), but I also went thru your how-to on the needle bearings and wonder if they only found on the ESOF hubs. Do manual hubs also have these bearings?

I am 99% sure that "Fords better engineering idea" for all the 4x4 SD was to incorporate the 'sealed bearing' front hubs. If it's a sealed bearing hub, it's got needle bearings. I don't believe it applies to the 2WD models.

As to why there is not a better tech-info area... I can not answer.
Hey Kwik, does being a moderator allow you the ability to create a thread at the top of the forum with a link to all the best threads for all these fix up needs of our PSDs? Then we would have specific info for our vehicles. Kind of like the "Official glow plug/hard start/white smoke" link at the top of this forum. In the 1967-72 forum they've got an official FAQ thread where each entry is specific to a commonly asked thing. You could start a FAQ at the top but instead of long entries about each thing you could just put a link to the best thread that describes the fix. Like your thread about the transfer case update. Then when someone chimes in with a problem you just point them to the FAQ and off they go. But even better would be that it would help me when I have time to be able to go there and not have to try to remember what all these things are.

For those of you ordering the upgrade.. be sure to use your VIN..in above link.. I entered my VIN for my 99 and ended up with a different P/N, slightly different price ($14.11) per wheel.. (F81Z2C150AA)

Is that for the early 99? I don't think I have to do my needle bearings as I have only been getting 20k out of my bearing hubs.Maybe doing the slide pins will get rid of the pulse and make the hubs last longer. Thanks Great post but one question, Aren't all the bolts metric? LPR

Surprisingly not. Because of the mix & match on these trucks, I usually try both and go with the snuggest fit, especially on the big, high torque nuts and bolts. On the hubs, I found that my 6 pt impact sockets fit the best and used them, no slop at all.

When I pulled the cover on my Dana 60, the one allen bolt accepted the 5/16 allen nicely, where all the metrics I tried were 'sloppy'.

WOW... WHAT AWESOME "HOW TO's".

I just ordered up some ART cryo rotors & Performance Friction brake pads for my 99F250SD... I'm very excited about putting this stuff on my truck!!! Your pics and explainations are easy to understand and should make my task much easier... on ART's web site it links to a "how to" from an Excursion web ring and it does not even mention the caliper guide/slide pins. I'm glad I did not settle for that article and kept searching for more info... more info... more info... I kinda have some OCD behavior traits... Don't we all... that's why we are here!!!

I'll let you know how it "all works out".

Thanks again!!
