D60 rears are easy to find and Ive seen them sell on Ebay for as cheap as $50 up to like $250 depending on if its original or rebuilt. They were in all F250s and 350s. D60 fronts however are rather hard to come by here in the South. Not too many Snowfighters here where it stays 70* in the winter, or they can be found in F350 4x4 trucks not too common here either. The last one I saw for sale (axle only) here in SC went for $750 used and needing new seals and a complete brake job. Up North they are much easier to find but then you have to get it shipped or spend $$ driving up to get it. You could always buy a set completely rebuilt with lockers and the gears you want from Dynatrac (to visit the site add "dot" com) but expect to pay a grand for the rear and about $1600 for the front. Worth it but not in my budget! Good Luck!
OK on a personal note I dont think people give the D44s enough credit for how good they really are. Unless youre running 38"+ tires, gobbs of HP and torque, and play in mud/rocks/sand on a weekly basis YOU DONT REALLY NEED A D60. JMHO. Not trying to sound like a smart @ss. It has just been my experience with trucks over the years that have taken a huge beating including one with a D44 and spool. They dont break as often as you might think. When they do its usually axle shafts that are cheap and easy to find. Ill be on my soap box all day stop by anytime!
