Engine won't run!
[font size="1" color="#FF0000"]LAST EDITED ON 13-Jun-01 AT 06:13 PM (EST)[/font][p]Today wasn't a good day. The ol' Ford left me on the side of the road for the 2nd time in its 23 years while towing a 6000 lb bale wrapper and 2 hours from home.
It seemed as if it wasn't getting gas. The problem started with the truck bucking, (like when its running out of gas) then no power off of idle, till I stepped on it, then to hardly any throttle response. At times, I had to keep my foot on the throttle to get it to run.
What is the problem here? Fule filter? Fuel pump? (i have the stock style) Carb?
Engine rebuilt 2 months ago.
Gotta get it on a flatbed trailer (with my uncles chevy on the front...ugghhh)

Matt, I am casting my vote for fuel, but don't know wheather it's filter or pump. Both are fairly cheap, so get both at the same time and save time.

Take line off carb and hook long hose to it and run it in a bucket. Crank the motor and lots of fuel should squirt out. If it doesn't work your way back from there seeing if there is fuel going to the pump. If there's fuel at the pump I would suspect the pump.

Borrowed our friends trailer and his new dually duramax to go get the ford, took a filter with us. Screwed it on, and started her up. No hesitation, good idle....
My dad drove it all the way home (1.5 hours), drove like a dream, with lots o power! I am going to carry a fuel filter in my wallet from now on)
Musta seen that chevy coming and said no damn way is it towing me!!
That just puts a smile on yer face doesn't it?
