Ever since I bought my 96 f250 the dome and cargo lights have not worked. bulbs are good, door jamb switches function, there is an obvious clicking coming from a small box with a bunch of wires running to it just under the dash about even with your right knee. Is this some sort of relay? Any ideas? Thanks.
In my 95 PSD I noticed that if you leave the doors open too long a timer must activate and turn off the lights. I suspect the buzzing you hear is that relay. I think it may be faulty. Goo luck, Duane.
possibly bad relay but it could also be the headlight swtich. it can control the dome light also you could start trouble shooting there do you have the service manual for the truck?
dosnt show any relays in the circuit. its fuse 8 that goes to the door switch and to the headlight/interior light override. its a light green and violet wire that goes to the switches thats supposed to be hot all the time.
maybe sounds silly...but is there a power wire hooked up to the dome light assembly?..My 2000 f 350 has working map lights, and you can hear the dome light relay when you operate the little thumb wheel to turn on the domes, but there is no sign of any wire up in the headliner to go to the dome light/ cargo light....wierd, huh?....good luck, scott
