Question for auto hubs. Where is the vacuum pump?
How much vacuum should i see at the hub connection, on the vacuum line.?
HOw long will i see vacuum when the selector is turned inside the truck?
this is on a 99 F250.
Also any ideas on why the 4x4 light would flicker while driving down the highway?
I'm no expert at this by any means. I know I've seen at least one thread about the ESOF problems that contained vaccum numbers. Do a search for "ESOF" and you'll get a bunch of info. All and all, in the end, I think you'll find most suggest to plug the vaccum lines, trash the oem auto/lock hub assemblies and install WARN premiums.
You'll find the vacuum pump under the hood on top of the passenger's side wheel well.
The switch that activates the automatic hubs is mounted to the fender in front of the vaccum pump.
Mine applies about 12" H2O at the line into the axle knuckle.
I don't think a flickering 4X4 light would have anything to do with the hubs, probably the switch in your dash, I have read of several of these going bad.
I for one am completely satisfied with my factory hubs on my 2000, 145,000 miles. I am in and out of 4wd several times a day and have never had a problem with them.
i agree with clux. i doubt a flickering light has anything to do with hubs. it has something to do with your switch or a sensor somewhere on the transfer case if there is one. is you 4x4 working normally besides the light on your dash?
I`m glad you`re getting good results with your factory hubs. I have experienced a bad set of autos on my old Blazer that were spring loaded and did those suck. They would ratchet and bang and stay half in and half out most times. I wouldn`t deal with them again. The premium gold Warns that are on my truck now have such a nice positive engagement that it`s worth it to me to get out of the truck to turn em once in a while. Just my .02
