I have changed the ingnition control module, coil, wires, dist. cap and rotor still no fire any other ideas truck just turns over, you can hold a plug wire in your bare hand and not feel nothing
Well, even if you can hold it in your hand it doesn't mean that there is no spark there.
You have to confirm that there is no spark present. You can buy a cheap spark checker or my next prefered method is to pull a plug or use a spare from your garage, plug it in and hold it against the block while someone bumps it over. You've got to ground it against the block/engine. I don't like to use the method of holding a wire near the terminal and watch/listen for the spark jump. This method is fine on older vehicles but doesn't work well with these EFI systems because you can fry ignition components, or so I've heard.
Confirm whether there is no spark or if there is...and whether or not you have fuel.
If you still have no spark, you'll need to check and make sure power is getting to the coil, should have the plug on it with a pos/neg 12v.
JDMBRONCO,
What kind of Mallory dist & sys did you use? I inherited a 351W that I plan on putting into my 92 F-150 that has a Mallory Unilite dist. My ? is the wiring, the mallory has less wires than my current harness & I'm not sure how to wire it in and what box if any I should use. Your input will be helpful.
Thanks, Hobo
Sorry it took so long to reply I was fishing the last few days, I will get all of the instructions out of the box and try to explain ti on this forum, The part was bought at advance auto parts and plugged in directly to my harness no extra boxes or wires, cost was around 180.00 for everything
Thanks JDM for the response. I'd appreciate the info whenever you have a chance. In the meantime I'll see if I can locate an Advance Auto near me and see if I can get the info just in case.
Thanks for your help, Howard
P.S., If you could just get me the # on the kit maybe I can get it online. Thanks
