useing tfi distributor
it is a roller motor so i would have to change the gear out if i use a standard distributor
wouldnt mind saveing a few bucks and use what i have
I would go ahead and put the duraspark with the roller cam. I did the same thing, and before I did I went to a local engine builder that specialized in Fords, and he said the 1980 duraspark dist I had would work fine in the 86 roller motor(with the Ford cam in it). He said the only time you need a special gear is when using an aftermarket billet cam or a cam that did not have the correct type gear on it.
I took his advice and ran the duraspark II dist on the roller cam for 8 years with no trouble.
