king pin kit question

I finally got my kingpin pressed out of my axle on my 67 F100 by a machine shop, and I've got my kit with nylon bushings to install, but I didn't end up taking it apart myself, and there's no instructions in the kit, so I've got to find out where the various parts of the kit go. The kit includes the following for each side:

1. kingpin - pretty obvious where that goes
2. 2 very thin washers/shims - I think these go on the top and bottom between where the spindle meets the axle, kinda like surfaces for the two to turn against each other on.
3. a small O-ring made out of brass and rubber, it fits on the kingpin - Where does this go? I can't figure it out...
4. retaining pin and nut - Obvious as well
5. grease caps - obvious
6. thrust bearing - obvious

So basically I need to know if I'm right about the thin washers and find out where the o-ring thing goes. Help me out here guys.

king pin kit question

The shims are there to tighten the fit. I ended up using both on mine. I wasn't sure either when I did mine. I put them both between the spindle and thrust bearing. Make sure the "top" side is up on the thrust bearing when you do the install. The little metal enforced seal goes below the insert on the top end of the spindle with the seal side up. I orinially bought the nylon ones too, but my shop informed me to exchange for the bronze insert kit instead. The metal inserts will last a lot longer - and who would want to do the job again in a couple of years?

below the insert on the top end of the spindle? I think you mean to put it inside the grease cap on the top right? Wouldn't that keep grease from entering the top side of the kinpin? I would think you wouldn't want that.

on a second reading, I'm thinking that I misunderstood and you meant that it goes in under the bushing insert on the top... that makes a lot more sense to me.

You got it. Between the I-beam and the upper bushing. Correction on orientiation : metal backing faces bushing.
