Bed Bolts

Where can I get BED BOLTS for a 1990 F150? Do I have to get them from Ford?

Seems like NAPA or one of the site sponsors should have them. Ford has been using those for decades!

But I don't know for sure so I am curious of the answer too!

Have you tried pulling them from a junkyard truck's bed?

yeah let me guess theyre not supposed to turn but they do anyways? i had that problem when i was putting on my body lift so i cut notches in the sides on the top then clamped a vice grip to them and had someone hold onto it while i took a brrrp gun to the nuts...it took some patience and a lot of wd40 but i got them all out and put the longer ones in that came with the kit...i dont see any reason why you couldnt use a generic bolt of the same size as long as its hard enough

Grade 8 bolts with big heavy grade 8 washers and nuts will definitely do the trick but it kind of sucks nobody knows where to get the right hardware... I wonder if McMaster-Carr sells them, it seems like they would just be a special kind of carriage bolt?

Home depot...I got mine there, work just fine. I bought 3 1/2 inch grade 8 bolts. they're in the plastic drawers with the specialty stuff. 1/2 inch bolts will do the trick.

Home Depot, Lowes and Ace Hardware have properly sized grade eight bolts.

But what you really want are carriage bolts - with the smooth, curved boltheads. This way you don't tear the surface of your sheet rock on the boltheads when you load your truck

The dealers also have a set of six bolts, washers and nuts that look just like the stock bolts for about $35 plus tax.
